Technicolour Dream Coat

My wish list at the moment has colour on it.

Sorry, what?

I'm not the most colourful of people. That sounds wrong. I don't mean that I'm a dark person, or even gothic (anyone who is reading this and use to know me or knows of the days when I was about 13, you can shhh!). I mean that colour doesn't make up a lot of my wardrobe, and it's not something that usually attracts me.

But, with LFW in full swing, and pictures of the collections coming out left right and centre, I can't help but feel inspiration growing, and a wish for some of the beautiful colours to make their way into my wardrobe.

All three of these are from Topshop, and they're all new season.
I think I've fallen in love with their blazers at the moment. The cut is beautiful, and I could literally go on about the detailing all day (but I won't).
I think these are beautiful as an injection of colour to your wardrobe without going over board and scaring yourself with too much colour. I'd love to team all of these pieces with blacks or whites to keep things sharp, but adding in just that pop of colour.

These little camis that Topshop have also bought out are adorable. I'm loving this transition from winter to spring/summer, and being able to start mixing and matching pieces from both seasons, and will definitely be scrimping and saving to add these pieces to brighten things up.

Well you must be a girl with shoes like that

As a final year under grad law student living with other final year under grad law students, I don't get out much. The dawning realisation of how boring I actually can be, was when it was pointed out, that at the age of 20, you should not find excitement in a 'bouquet garni' to pop into your homemade casserole that also requires great organisation and forward planning.

So last weekend was a bit of a mad one, and it was almost too much excitement to handle!
For my friend's 21st, we all went out for the night, and whilst it's apparently the 'the look' these days to rock your converse and jean shorts on a night out, us girls went to town and glammed ourselves up!

It's true that you can never have too many little black dresses. I know it's fun to mix things up every now and again and go for something a little outside of your comfort zone, but when you're in need of something that's fool proof and guaranteed to make you feel comfortable, your good old trusty black dress is worth it's weight in gold.
I talk like I have a whole wardrobe dedicated to little black dresses, but I don't haha
I have this little number and it is my absolute favourite...

Misguided have provided us with a beautiful dupe of a dress in last year's collection from French Connection, and whilst it's a fraction of the price, the cut of the dress is beautiful and it clings to all of the right areas as well as washing really well without racking up a dry cleaning bill after every time you go out.

In terms of make up, I didn't hold back. My face consisted of my usual Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat, and then I left the rest of my attention to my eyes.
This little beauty is hands down, the most stunning palette I've seen...

This is actually from the range that Clarins had out just before Christmas, and although it's no longer being stocked, I think it would be rude not to give it a little shout out, mainly because it deserves it.
It's incredibly pigmented, and the gold shimmer (top right) is amazing. The packaging is beautiful as with all Clarins products, and I just really can't fault it.

I think we forget how important it is to act our age every once in a while. Our extent of excitement has boiled down to 'Mr Selfridge' on a Sunday night, and as much as I love Mr Selfridge, I think it's forgotten that we're in our last year of undergraduate study at university, and we'll never get this kind of freedom or opportunities again.

So as well as being a long weekend of celebrations for one of my absolute favourites, it was also a good excuse to act our age, dance around, and get drunk and embrace all that is 'student life'.

The World and Their Mother.

I'm developing a nice long list of posts that I'd like to do, and I'm always trying to think of ideas that are a bit original and different to every other blog out there.
Having started this blog, I've come to the very daunting realisation that aiming for 'original' is actually really hard and sometimes borderline impossible if you want to have your own beauty blog, because there are so many out there doing the exact same as you. And that makes me think...

What is it about the top blogs that makes them... well... top?

There are quite a few bloggers that I follow and love reading their posts, even more so than magazines or any other type of media that covers fashion and beauty. But I've noticed, that there are a lot of established bloggers who talk so fondly of 'the good old days' when blogging was at its best, and the industry of it all wasn't as competitive and same old same old as it is now.
I think what people are trying to say, is that everyone and their mother now writes a blog, and that has taken away from the magic and the sparkle of it.

But surely this is the point?

It took me roughly 15 minutes to set up my blog, and the majority of that time was taken up trying to think of a name. Before I knew it, I was apart of the 'blogsphere' that I have admired for quite some time, and I am now able to publish my thoughts, ideas and opinions online for anyone to read.

Before posting my very first post on this blog, I actually googled for Zoe's very first post as a bit of inspiration on where the hell to start. And instead of finding a beautifully, intricate essay on a nail polish picked up in Boots, I found a very honest, short post about an outing that she had had that day.

Thinking about it, that's what makes a blog original.

At the end of the day, this is my blog, and a little space of the internet where I can post whatever I like, whether that be about the latest hair treatment, or just a post about what my day's been like, or even a rant about something that's on my mind.
I don't want to write what others may want me to write, or post up something just because it's what everyone else is, and I think that's what will get me views, because I wouldn't be being honest.

So, when I was thinking all of this as i fell asleep last night, I thought I better practice what I was preaching, and write it down and post it. And even if no one ever sees this, that's okay, because at least I'll know that this is in my mind, original, and not simply copied and pasted from the latest trending posts

50 Shades of Black, White and Grey.

One of the big trends for S/S 2013 is monochrome, and for quite a few of us, that's a big deal because black and white takes up 90% of our wardrobes. The high street have again done us proud and here are a few of my picks that will be going on my wish list...

From Left to Right...
..H&M shirt. .Topshop Blazer. .Topshop Sparkle Sleeve Blazer. .River Island Knitted Jumper.
.River Island Textured Biker Jacket. .Topshop Cami.

I'm a huge fan, and think that this is such a fool-proof trend. I love the way that it looks classy but can be achieved so effortlessly. I do like the black inserts into this, but I do think that I'll slowly steer away from any emphasise on the black pieces as the weather starts to warm up (A girl can dream ha!). I have images of tanned skin, and beautiful white, simple, tailored pieces that can be mixed up.

White can be hard to pull off if you want to go all in though, and let's face it, isn't the most practical colour to wear head to toe. With some careful accessorising, comprising of pastels to keep it light and maybe, dare I say it, a little nod to neon (I don't mean looking like you're heading off to a fresher's neon rave) this could be a stunner of a trend.

From Left to Right...
.H&M Chelsea Boots. .H&M Necklace. .H&M Necklace. .Topshop Nails in Chase. .River Island Pastel Bag. .
Topshop Neon and Gold Rings.

I love the idea of the pastels mixed in with the whites, especially the River Island Bag, it will definitely be joining the family in the coming months when I finally detach myself with my Zara City Office Bag!

A Week in Pictures

The weekend has gone by so quickly, I can't actually believe it's monday night already. I went home for the weekend to have a chill and to see my family and boyfriend. Being in my final year of my degree can get a bit hectic sometimes, and it felt like a weekend at home was definitely needed to re-boost my motivation and energy!

So seeing as I haven't been up to loads, I thought I'd give you my past week in picture form.
1) Celebrating handing in coursework with a cheeky slug and lettuce! 2) Homemade smoothies with frozen berries, fresh fruit, and fruit juice. 3) Motivation. 4) My beautiful pride and joy in the form of the Zara City Office Bag. 5) Monday Statistics. 6) How to be Happy. 7) FaceTime with my boy. 8) Coursework + Tea. 9) Effeclar Range.
